Procedure |
Check first the
list of the nationalities exempt from short stay visas for a
French Overseas Territory for a maximum stay of 30 days.
If your nationality does not appear on above mentioned exempt
list and you wish to visit a French Overseas Territory, you need
to apply for a short stay visa before departure.
This visa will be valid only for the French Overseas Territories.
It will not allow you to enter the Schengen region nor Metropolitan
France unless you specify a need to also visit Metropolitan
France and the Schengen countries in the same trip. Explain your
plans to the visa section by fax or email.

Documents required |
1 short stay visa application form neatly and completely filled out with a recent picture stapled or glued to it
Your
original passport. It must be valid at least
3 months beyond the date of your expected return to Canada. Make
sure you have signed it.
Your
original Permanent Resident Card
1 recent color photo, format 35mm x 45mm, with a clear plain background. The height must be between 31.5mm and 36mm from chin to crown. The person’s head must be full front view centered in the middle of the photograph. Photos with hat, caps, sunglasses, etc. will not be accepted nor digitized photos. This photo will be scanned in the visa.
The
following documents must be submitted in original
plus one photocopy of each. |
Faxed
copies or e-mails are not accepted. |
A
detailed return flight reservation itinerary and proof
of organized tour (if applicable)
Supporting
documents concerning the purpose of your trip :
. for business travelers: a letter of invitation from the company
you are going to visit explaining the reason of your trip.
. for tourists: the itinerary provided by the travel agency,
hotel reservation
. others: a letter explaining the purpose of your visit (nannies
accompanying their employer to FOT, school trips: letter and
itinerary from the school, financial guarantee letter from parents
including letter from their bank and copy of signed id).
Proof
of financial resources such as:
. a letter from your bank or a certificate
of balance stating that you have an amount in your
account equivalent to a minimum of CAD$ 70 per day of stay in
F.O.T. Your full name and account number must appear on it.
Bank books and monthly bank statements do not replace the certificate
of balance letter from the bank.
. AND a valid credit card (if you apply by
mail just provide a photocopy)
Proof
of international medical insurance. Provincial plan is
not accepted. It can be bought from any travel agency.
If
you intend to enter French Overseas Territory by boat
fill out the form below. We will stamp it and return it to you
so that you can take it on the trip.
Additional
documents:
. A letter of employment stating how long your
seniority, the dates you are allowed to be absent from the office
and the date you are due back to work. Include the two latest
salary statements in original plus copy.
. If you are self-employed, include the original
and a photocopy (or two photocopies) of your business license
and documents related to it showing your name.
. If you are a student, include a copy of your
valid student card and/or letter from your school.
Further documents may be required. You will be informed after reception
of your file. Do not fax any documents to the French Consulate.
Incomplete applications cannot be processed. If you applied by mail
the package will be returned by courier service at your own expense.

Time process |
Processing delay takes between 2 and 15 working days, even if you
are landed immigrant in Canada.
Application can be submitted at the earliest 3 months
prior to departure to French Overseas Territory.
