FOREIGN BUSINESS PERMIT
 

 

A specific procedure applies to citizens of countries, members of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Check first if you are concerned otherwise follow the procedure given below.

 

Procedure

When you submit an application to obtain a business permit, you must apply at the same time for a long stay visa if you intend to stay in France to carry out its commercial activities.

All documents written in English must be translated into French.

The application will be processed once you submit all the documents.

Do not fax anything to the French Consulate. Incomplete applications will be returned to you, by courier service at your own expense if you applied by mail.


Documents required to apply for a foreign business permit.

 

The following documents must be submitted in 4 separate sets :
 

- 1 set of only the originals and

- 3 sets of xerox letter-sized photocopies (no thermal paper) translations included.

 
All documents written in English have to be translated in French by a certified translator.

Faxed copies or e-mails are not accepted

 

A letter of application for a business permit in French stating the kind of business you will be engaged in and whether you intend to reside in France while operating it.

 

The questionnaire CERFA number 10779*01 fully and clearly completed.

 

A document called "Canadian Police Certificate for Visa application / Foreign travel / Foreign Work Permit" to be obtained from the RCMP office nearest your residence.

 

The applicant's latest diplomas and/or certificates of training or of professional experience.

 

Documents about your financial situation (letter from your bank or broker, property deeds, etc.)

 

A form called "Attestation sur l'honneur" completed and signed.

 

A letter of credit issued by a credit institution based in France, or proof of applicant's credit record with a financial institution based in France or having a branch in France.

 

The applicant's résumé, although not mandatory, should be added to the file.

 

Additional documents required if you want to carry on your activity in a company already established :

Letter of assignment to a position in the company or, a letter of intention to do so from the company's board of directors.

 

The "extrait K bis" from the "registre du commerce et des sociétés" of the place where the company is registered in France.

 

A copy of the statutes of the company in French.

 

The ventilation of the company's shares.

 

Documents required to request a long stay visa

4 or 6 long stay visa application forms, depending on your nationality (click here to find out), duly filled out and signed by the applicant, each one with a recent identity picture glued to the forms.

Attach a post-it to one of the forms stating your intended departure date from Western Canada to France. This information is very important since it will be used to date the visa. This form exists only in French.

 

3 copies of the first pages (picture and personal data) of your passport. It should be valid at least one year longer than the date of arrival to France.

 

A form called "Supplementary information for long term visas" completed either in English or in French. Submit only the original that you sign.

 

1 recent color photo, format 35mm x 45mm, with a clear plain background. The height must be between 31.5mm and 36mm from chin to crown. The person’s head must be full front view centered in the middle of the photograph. Photos with hat, caps, sunglasses, etc. will not be accepted nor digitized photos. This photo will be scanned in the visa.

Time process

Our records show a delay of approximately 3 months after the consulate has received a complete application to obtain an answer from our administration in Paris. Once the consulate receives an answer, we will contact you.
Applications can be submitted no longer than 5 months prior to departure to France.

 

If the applicant's family intends to accompany :

 

 
     
Spouse : Full application for a long stay visitor visa
     
  Marriage registration, please provide :
   
  - a copy and 3 photocopies (no thermal paper).
  - its certified translation in French and 3 photocopies (no thermal paper).
 
Important : extract of marriage registration are not accepted.

 

Minors under 18 :
     
If the children have been entered in to one of the parent's passport, there is no need to fill out forms for them but their pictures must appear on one of the parents' forms.
     
If he/she has an individual passport :
     
  6 long stay visa application forms
   
 
     
  3 copies of the first pages (picture and personal data) of the passport. It should be valid at least one year longer than the date of arrival to France, (no thermal paper).
     
  Birth registration, please provide :
   
  - a copy and 3 photocopies (no thermal paper).
  - its certified translation in French and 3 photocopies (no thermal paper).
Important : extract of birth registration are not accepted.

An undertaking to buy excess emergency medical insurance for the first 3 months of your stay in France, after approval of your visa. No need to have this letter notarized.
