Entering
in France :
Nationals of a Member State of the European Union
may enter the French territory upon presentation of an identity
card or a valid
European passport.
Stay up to three months
For a stay less than three months, European Union nationals do
not need a residence permit.
Stay of more than three months
Within the first three months of arrival to France, you must go
to the "préfecture" of your place of residence in France
and request a residence permit ("carte de séjour").
To obtain your residence permit, you must submit :
• Proof that you are receiving a pension or any other
proof of sufficient financial means to live in France.
• Proof of full-coverage health insurance for you and if need
be your family.
• Proof of lodging (a property deed or lease)
• When submitting your file, you will buy a fiscal stamp at the "préfecture".
It costs about 160 FF (around 25 Euros).
