| Although Languedoc-Roussillon
covers only a twentieth of France, it concentrates in its
area an incredible variety of scenery, soils and micro-
climates. Languedoc, the "crossroads of Europe", can be
proud of its long history of the meeting (and sometimes
clashing) of cultures. With 300 days of sun a year, Languedoc-Rousillon
has been given the title of sunniest region of France. |

With such a variety, this region will please everybody.
Languedoc-Rousillon looking seaside, it's 125 miles
of beaches and numerous seaside resorts. If it's not
enough, don't forget that Spain and the famous Costa
Brava is just on the other side of the Pyrenees! It's
also the marshland of Camargue and its wildlife: white
local horses, black bulls prepared for the corrida,
pink flamingos... And with the "Tramontane",
a constant wind coming from the North West, windsurfers
and sailors will love this part of the Coast!

| Languedoc-Rousillon looking
inland, it's the Corbieres mountains and the Catalonian
Pyrenees. It's also the breathtaking Gorges du Tarn, a
paradise for trout fishermen but also for lovers of canoeing.
In the backcountry of Montpellier, the meeting of the two
strong winds, la Tramontane et le Mistral, gives to this
aera marvellous colors and pure air almost all around the
year. |

Lovers of history and old rocks
can visit the world famous medieval city of Carcassonne,
the ruins of the Cathar castles, the roman city of Nimes
and its arena, Perpignan... . The history has embodied
in the architecture and the countryside -- the cloistered
calm of Romanesque abbeys and churches, and the very different
sort of peace to be found in Cathar castles in ruins perched
on rocky crags.
