Lower Normandy
Lower Normandy is a region of verdant countryside and vast sandy beaches. This region became famous following the D-Day Landings by Allied Forces on June 6th 1944. Names such as Utah Beach, Juno Beach, Arromanches... stay engraved in our memories as places where one of the greatest military operation took place. Several museums or guided tours help you to live again this piece of history.
But Normandy has also unspoilt areas of countryside, such as the Nez de Jobourg headland and the cliffs in the Caux region or the nature reserve of the Cotentin and Bessin marshes. Lower Normandy is one of the oldest tourist regions in France. Due to its proximity to Paris and its cool weather, the attraction of Normandy originally lay in its seaside resorts and sea-bathing. lts little villages and clear streams are the ideal setting in which to relax and rediscover the joys of nature.

Even before the D-Day Landings, Normandy had a tumultuous history. The conquest of England by William, Duke of Normandy, is one of the greatest epic tales known in the history of the Middle Ages. The famous and only one of its kind Bayeux Tapestry tells of the circumstances and the events of the English expedition. Don't forget also to visit the mont Saint-Michel. The beauty of its Gothic architecture and the originality of the site make this monument absolutely exceptional.
