The Consulate General : our mission

If you encounter any of the following situations, we can help you.

• You are a French citizen and you live in Western Canada.

• If you are getting married in Western Canada and you want to ensure that your marriage will be registered in France.

• If you have just given birth to a "little Canadian". You are a French citizen, so you assume that your child is French too. Once he is of age, he might be able to live and work anywhere in European Union. But only if he is registered!

• If France is having a major election and you live in Canada, you still have the right to vote...

• If you still have your large cottage in Provence and you wish to donate it to your children who are still living in France, or to sell it. Which lawyer can authenticate the proxy you are giving to a relative?

• You have just lost your passport and you are going on vacation. Your plane is leaving tomorrow morning and your plane ticket is not refundable nor exchangeable. Suddenly you understand how useful it is to be registered at the Consulate.

• You are travelling in Western Canada

• If you just arrived in Vancouver to study, work or for a lifestyle change. Your English is somewhat poor and you don't know anybody.

• You are a Canadian or a foreigner

• If you want to go to France to travel, study, work as an "au pair", settle... You need a visa.

• What can we do for you?

• Have a look at this website and you will find out that the mandate of the French Consulate goes far beyond the administrative services to French citizen.

• We are here to assist you with your enquiries about cultural or scientific issues as well as to ensure the promotion and the influence of France in Western Canada.
